APACE (Asian Pacific Advocacy, Culture and Education) Academyis a 5-day summer program at ASU with a focus on Asian Pacific American history, culture, contemporary topics, cultural competency, public-speaking, and civic engagement.

APACE Academy students engage in activities which help them find connections between their cultural identity, history, and their own professional development. APACE is a space for high school students to make new connections with similarly aged peers, professionals, ASU faculty and students, and community organizations and mentors.

This year, APACE Academy is open to 30 students from Asian and Pacific Islander communitiesentering grades 9-12 in fall 2024. The program will be held on ASU’s Tempe campus fromMonday through Friday, June 3 – June 7, 2024.

Join us in developing realistic 3D games using the high-end game engine, Unreal Engine 5, from Epic Games. This camp adopts a hands-on approach, allowing each student to utilize a high-spec computer equipped with NVIDIA RTX. The instructor is an ASU professor with over 20 years of experience teaching computer graphics and game development. As an in-person camp, the kids receive prompt assistance and support from ASU student assistants in our gaming program within the School of Computer and Augmented Intelligence.

In this exciting hands-on day camp for grades 7 – 10, participants will dive into the realms of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) as they explore concepts such as simple machines, electric circuits, programming and computational thinking, music, and storytelling. Participants will also have access to cutting-edge technologies like 3-D printers, laser cutters, and Arduino microcontrollers to elevate their projects. The camp’s project-based approach emphasizes problem solving, brainstorming, rapid prototyping, teamwork, and communication, culminating in the thrilling design and construction of a giant thematic chain-reaction machine! From 9 AM to 5 PM each day at the ASU Chandler Innovation Center in the heart of downtown Chandler, participants will unleash their creativity and build lasting memories in this immersive STEAM adventure.

Make a short, animated music video with stop-motion animation! Stop-motion animation is a highly detailed animation process that uses up to 24 photos per second to create seamless motion. Participants will work collaboratively as they choose the music, brainstorm concepts, and design storyboards. They will animate, shoot, and edit videos using various materials such as clay, construction paper, small objects, and industry-grade technology available at the School of Art.

Join us for a summer of fun, creativity, and writing during the annual YAWP Summer Camp! Session A runs June 3rd-June 14th, and Session B runs from June 17th-28th. Are you an Arizona high school student interested in learning more about engineers and how they impact our world and society?

The National Summer Transportation Institute (NSTI) will engage you in projects and field trips that demonstrate how engineers plan and maintain our systems of transportation around the state of Arizona.

As an NSTI participant, you will live on campus for one week while interacting with ASU engineering faculty and students, engaging in transportation-related field trips, and completing a project related to maintaining safe, sustainable, and efficient transit.

This program is free and is designed for highly accomplished and motivated students. This program is funded in partnership with the U.S. Federal Highway Administration and the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The Dialectic: Philosophy Summer Camp is an intellectual community formed of high school students, philosophy PhD students, and professors. This year we will explore questions about the nature of the self, such as:

• What does the self consist of? Who, or what are you?
• Are you separate from others? Are you unique?
• Do you make your own decisions?
• What does it mean to be a self among other selves?
• What benefits or harms come from focusing on the self?
• Are people inherently good or bad?
• Can the self survive change? Death?

The School of Arts, Media and Engineering annually hosts a summer program for students ages 12 to 18, featuring 5-day, project-focused workshops. Students work directly with faculty and graduate students who are experts in their field. Camp Broadway® Mainstage is designed for theater-loving kids, ages 10-17, to develop their confidence, character and presentation skills through ensemble performance. The five-day camp is open to all children, regardless of previous performing experience. The Camp Broadway team is comprised of distinguished actors, writers and designers directly from New York. Campers learn acting, scene study, improvisation, music theory, singing and dancing, while building self-esteem, teamwork skills, and creative potential.Campers will also watch the Broadway show PETER PAN. Duringthe camp, students will compete in the National Underwater Robotics Competition and work on a team to build a robot to conduct a simulated mission to save scientists trapped in an underwater cave. Learn concepts and skills like buoyancy, electrical wiring, and autonomy in a fun and hands-on way and meet Desert WAVE, currently the top ranked underwater robotics team in the country! The Engineering Projects in Community Service program, known as EPICS, is a national award-winning social entrepreneurship program. Students design, build, and deploy systems to solve engineering-based problems for charities, schools, and other not-for-profit organizations. This year Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering is introducing a summer bootcamp to allow high school students to get a jump start on changing the world. During this program, students will be introduced to engineering design, rapid prototyping (laser cutting, CAD, arduino, 3D printing), and prototype testing through a hands-on, application-based summer camp. Members from the community will introduce a problem encountered by their non-profit, and students will spend the week designing, building, and testing a possible solution to meet their user needs. EPICS projects range from solar panel battery systems, engagement toys for animals at the Phoenix Zoo, 3D printed prosthetics, and tools for training service dogs.

Guided by our world-class faculty and staff, students will have the opportunity to explore their various interests, develop their musicianship, and prepare for studying music at the college level.

Taking place in our state-of-the-art facility in the cultural hub of Downtown Phoenix at Fusion on First, participants will have hands-on experiences in our studio suites, performance, and rehearsal spaces, writing rooms, and digital media labs, all outfitted with the latest technology.

In this screenprinting camp, you'll practice the printing and layering processes with transparencies and stencils as you incorporate techniques of drawing, tracing, detailed cutting, composition, and found object exposure. Water-based inks in a variety of colors will be mixed for printing. Students will take home their creations, as well as their own School of Art tote bag.

A child is only truly successful when they learn to be happy and confident with who they are.

Happiness is the goal for this one-of-a-kind youth summer camp! Hosted at Arizona State University campuses, Leadership Society of Arizona’s 2024 Logic, Leadership, and Life Skills summer program is a day camp where teens complete licensed professional development training.
